If your favorite lamp is showing signs of wire shorting, there’s no need to throw it out. What once cost hundreds of dollars to fix, you can now do at home. The first step of this easy home maintenance project is to unscrew the bulb. After this, remove the old socket.
Then, turn the lamp over and remove the bottom. Pull out the old wires through the bottom of the lamp. You can then insert the new wires from a wiring kit. Ensure that you attach the neutral and hot wires correctly. Then, tighten the screws and put the socket back in. Finally, reassemble the bottom.
Screw the bulb back in and test the lamp. Bulbs are easily damaged when removed, so if this does not work, try a new one.
