Most cabinets are designed with horizontal storage in mind. While this works for the basics, there are plenty of items in a kitchen that could benefit from vertical storage options.
Cookie sheets, cake pans, muffin tins and other tall baking equipment all store more easily vertically. Standing them on end makes them easier to pull out when they’re needed instead of digging for them through a pile. Choose a convenient cabinet for storage of these items and get started.
To create vertical storage, shorten a horizontal shelf by sawing it in half. Add a vertical panel, creating the vertical storage space. Drill holes in the vertical panel and in the cut edge of the horizontal shelf to insert shelf pins. Use brackets on the floor and ceiling of the cabinet as supports for the vertical panel. Once the panel is secure, you’ve created the perfect vertical storage spot for all of your bakeware.
