If you’re like most homeowners, you probably have a maintenance checklist to go through each season. A checklist is a great start, but it’s even better if you ensure that your list covers all of your bases. One such base is your sump pump.
Test the Sump Pump
The sump pump is easy to forget about. When it’s functioning, you probably don’t think about it, and so it’s easy to keep it low on the maintenance checklist. Not only does testing your sump pump take very little time, but you only need to do it a couple of times a year. Simply dump water into the basin and check to ensure that everything works properly. If you prefer, vertical float switches are best for smaller pits and can help you prevent flooding.
