Seasonal allergies do not have to enter your home any time of year when you regularly replace your air filters. This easy home maintenance task allows the air conditioner to blow clean air throughout the home, ridding the air of unwanted allergens, such as mold, pollen and dust. Replace the filters more often when the system runs more, such as on hot or cold days.

For central air conditioners, simply remove the old filters and replace them with new ones every month or so. These filters are often behind a grate that is easy to open. For those with mini-splits, you can simply pop off the filters and clean them in the sink or even dishwasher to save time. Once dry, simply reinstall them and breathe deeply of the clean, fresh air.
